The European Commission has drawn up a study to improve the air quality of school buildings. The best solution is represented by continuous surfaces.

The interventions can be various and of different nature and usually concern reconversion or restoration, safety measures, modernization activities.
The more radical ones, such as the construction of new school buildings, should not be forgotten.
Being empty buildings, in summer, the opportunity is usually taken to intervene in the classrooms with maintenance activities such as painting the ceiling and walls or the restoration of the flooring.
These are activities that must be carried out by competent personnel with the highest quality materials as they affect the quality of the air that pupils and teachers breathe.
Improving the quality of air in schools and kindergartens was also the goal of a project of the European Commission (SINPHONIE).
It aims to reduce the risk and burden of respiratory diseases among children and teachers potentially due to indoor and outdoor air pollution by formulating guidelines, recommendations and options for better air quality and health effects associated in schools.
The project indicates, as the best surfaces, those dustproof, zero emissions and easy to clean and maintain.
The continuous surfaces, with no joints or joints between floor and walls, fully represent what is indicated by the SINPHONIE project.
In particular, Oltremateria eco-resins fully comply with the indications being water-based or, in the case of Oleomalta, sunflower oil-based.
