The prestigious German institution has been active in the field of design since the last century. Oltremateria has been selected and received the prestigious award.
The news had been in the air for some time but, for policy reasons, it could not be spread.
Oleomalta by Oltremateria has been selected by the German Design Council for the 2021 edition of the German Design Awards.
The result was excellent: it won the prize in the “Innovative Materials” category while it was selected among the finalists in the “Innovative Architecture” category.
The German Design Council is the body created by the German Parliament in 1953 and has the aim of promoting design as an economic and cultural factor.
The German Design Awards reward only innovative products and projects, their manufacturers and designers in the German and international design sector.
Participation in the competition is not free but is at the invitation of the German Design Council (Rat für Formgebung).
The latter selects the participants on the basis of the general concept of the project or product, sustainability, aesthetics, functionality and durability.
Oleomalta, the first eco-resin based on sunflower oil, is the result of Oltremateria’s continuous commitment to research and protection.
It is specially designed to improve performance and introduce greater well-being in residential spaces and commercial or public places.
Oleomalta, gives the surfaces where it is applied new properties: air purification 24 hours a day, 7 days a week as well as inhibition of bacteria and viruses.
The words of the CEO of Oltremateria, Mr. Loris Casalboni, contain all the emotions that followed the proclamation of the victory : “For us it was already an honor that an important global body such as the German Design Council had selected us – the CEO begins” .
“We therefore decided to participate with Oleomalta, – continues Casalboni – as it is the eco-resin of the future. The award was twice as good: first because it was unexpected and then because it rewards the work and mission of Oltremateria: to create eco-resins aimed at the environment and improving the quality of life “.
2021 sees Oltremateria committed to studying new products for an increasingly green future and previews will be provided shortly.
